The First Seafood Show was held at Mumbai in 1973. The last three Editions in 2010, 2012 and 2014; Held at Chennai made the Show prominent in the Global Seafood Community and established an International stature.

With Indian Aquaculture gaining a strong foothold in the International Market in the recent years, the emphasis for the current year has shifted to Aquaculture. Andhra Pradesh being the Aquaculture Capital State of India and Visakhapatnam, an important port city and a scenic, commercial hub of Andhra, was selected as the ideal location for holding IISS 2016.

The India International Seafood Show offers tremendous scope for tapping new avenues and introducing various technologies and products to the global market. With multi fold increase in Litopenaeus Vannamei production, India is poised for significant increase in production infrastructure. IISS 2016 provides great opportunities to forge new partnerships and strengthen the existing relationship amongst all sectors associated with the Seafood Industry.

India exported quality seafood worth US $4.7 Billion (Provisional) in 2015-16 and is expected to achieve US $10 Billion in 2020.This revolves around increased aquaculture production with emphasis on Safety and Sustainability. The Show will help create Success Stories among the participating Companies and channelize their growth in this Industry.

India's Seafood Industry is one of the leading suppliers of quality seafood to all the major markets of the world. India is the second largest aquaculture producer in the world, the largest supplier of Shrimp to USA, the second largest exporter of Shrimp to Europe and fourth largest exporter of Shrimp to Japan. India has world class seafood processing plants that follow quality control regimes, compliant to stringent International Regulatory Requirements.

IISS 2016 is focusing on "Safe and Sustainable Indian Aquaculture" to highlight the technological advances and sustainable practices followed in Capture & Culture Fisheries in India. Indian Fishermen, Aqua Farmers and Seafood Exporters have made it their tradition to conduct their activities in a sustainable way and in harmony with nature. Increasing export of value added exports to about half of the total quantity, will also be a key component of marine products export plan of India. The way to go forward on this will involve more technological back-up, which can be provided through the participants of this show from abroad and in India.

This biennial event offers a platform of opportunities for exporters and importers of Indian Marine Products, Processors, Resource Specialists and Personnel of both Capture and Culture Fisheries, Processing Machinery Manufacturers and Allied Sectors, to meet under one roof. It facilitates Show Participants and Trade Visitors to Conduct Business, Upgrade Technologies, Network and Exchange Ideas for mutual benefit and further Business and Trade Relations. The Objective of Organizing the Show is to highlight India's commitment to safe and sustainable practices in fisheries, both capture and culture. Thanks to the increasing emphasis on aquaculture, the Theme of IISS 2016 is "SAFE AND SUSTAINABLE INDIAN AQUACULTURE"
